Prayers for the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary

V: You speak your word
R: Let it be so for us.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
magnified you and rejoiced.
We ask for your blessing on your Church,
as a place where your beauty is relished,
and you are praised.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
asked how she could live her vocation.
We ask for your blessing on all who struggle
to know their place in your world.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
embraced your will for her.
We ask for your blessing on all facing choices
between what makes for life and what does not.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
was a faithful Jew who looked to the Temple.
We ask your blessing on all
who worship you in ways beyond our own.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
was told a sword would pierce her own side.
We ask for your consoling blessing on all
who suffer and who know the pains of grief.

Gd, Mary the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
knew homelessness and exile.
We ask for your blessing upon all whose lives are uprooted
and who live at the mercy of others,
and for deep compassion in the discussion of their plight.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
taught others to 'do whatever he tells you'.
We ask for your blessing on all
who lives lives of radical world-challenging faith.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
sought him out when he was beside himself.
We ask for your blessing of healing on all families
who know division, enmity and misunderstanding.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
became the mother of the beloved disciple.
We ask for your blessing on all who have mothered us,
all who would be mothers but cannot be,
and all who have lost a child.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
stood by him on the cross.
We ask for your blessing on all who face death today,
especially those who will die in agony, through violence or war,
unprepared or alone.

Gd, Mary, the Mother of our Sovereign and Christ
is honoured as the the one who gave birth to Gd.
We ask for your blessing upon each human being,
for a stronger sense that they are made in your image,
deserving life and what is good,
and with their own unique call.
