Let
us pray.
Blessed
are you, Lord God of all creation,
through
your goodness you made the world,
and
humankind to tend and serve it;
through
your goodness you chose a people;
you
saw their slavery
and
made them walk freedom's way,
dry-foot
through the sea;
through
your goodness you sent us your Son
to
teach and heal,
and
show your love in his death;
through
your goodness you raised him from the grave,
bringing
light out of darkness
as
at the dawn of time.
Blessed
are you, Lord our God,
for
this our Easter Light,
whose
praises we have sung,
which
helps us see you
in
neighbour and stranger, in friend and enemy,
so
that we are fit to live in eternity
to
live in you.
Blessed be God!
Blessed
be God for ever. Amen.

The services were in different churches, each having its own Paschal candle, necessarily. The light from the first Paschal candle, itself from the Easter fire, was transferred, not without difficulty but with faithful persistence, was transferred to the second Paschal candle.
Material from Common Worship: Times and Seasons was also used.
